Muneeswaran Koil


A massive Muneeswaran koil on the banks of the river Adayar. Lord Muneeswaran is a village diety which guards the people . the statue of Muneeswaran Koil is located in outskirts of the village.

The gigantic statue of Lord Muneeswaran instills fear of wrong and sense of righteouness in the heart of the people. They are claimed to be angry gods who cannot tolerate injustice towards the righteous. He wears a head gear  with Ganesha and adorns Makara Kundalam in both earlobes. He wears Ashtalakshmi neck ornament with Gayathri Devi as pendant. HIs armlets contain Saraswathi Devi images.   He has a pearl chain with Hanuman in Anjali Mudra as pendant.  He wears a band across his chest in which left side of the pendant we have surya deva, chandra deva, etc few others with vahana (Navagrahas) and to the right side  the symbols for twelve rashis are engraved on that band.He is adorned with another Rudraksha chain has pendant which has Amman as a pendant. He holds a  weapon called Aruval in his right hand. He is sitting in Suka asanam and his left hand is holding his mace. Beneath the pedestal we can see God Surya atop his chariot with seven coloured horses. God Surya deva is flanked by Navanari kunjara ( an elephant figurine composed with nine females) on one side and horse composed of five women 












The behind of Lord Muneeshwarar pedestal you can see RishabaKunjarama ( conjoint heads of elephant and bull with seperate bodies) , Nava nari Kunjaram and asva nari (can be five or nine ie panch nari ashva or nava nari ashva)
